Local storage objects can be used to store and retrieve data about users. The settings are typically not exposed via web browser controls making it difficult for users to change their settings or opt out. The use of local storage objects to store data is therefore not recommended.
HTML local storage test in Advalidation
When this test/setting is enabled, Advalidation will flag whenever an ad is using HTML local storage. This will help you identify ads that may not comply with privacy regulations, and help you restrict the use of HTML local storage on ads you serve.
Advalidation's recommendation
We recommend using this setting to help keep track of HTML local storage usage which can be beneficial if you are aiming to restrict its usage, and more generally helping to identify potential compliance issues.
