VPAID (Video Player-Ad Interface Definition) is a standardised communication protocol that allows video ads to interact with video players.
There are two types of VPAID which are Flash and Javascript. Flash VPAID uses Adobe Flash technology to enable interactive video ads, which requires the Flash plugin and is now largely obsolete due to security issues and lack of support on mobile devices. JavaScript VPAID, on the other hand, uses standard web technologies, works across all devices and browsers, and is more secure and widely supported. Consequently, JavaScript VPAID is the preferred choice for modern interactive video ads.
Advalidation can detect and optionally accepts VPAID tags depending on your requirements.
VAST API framework settings in Advalidation
In Advalidation, you can select one or both of the below options:
- Accept VPAID flash — obsolete
- Accept VPAID javascript — better supported, preferred option
If the VAST API framework test is enabled but none of the above options are selected, Advalidation will flag any VPAID tag in the QA report.
Advalidation's recommendation
We recommend enabling this setting in order to keep visibility over VPAID tags.
