A container usually bundles the audio and video data in one organised package. In addition, the container can contain metadata, subtitles, additional audio files such as different spoken languages.
Container settings in Advalidation
In Advalidation, you can select one or several of the below options:
- 3GPP — .3gp, .3gpp
- 3GPP2 — .3gp, .3gpp
- AVI — .avi
- IVF — .ivf
- FLV — .flv, .fla, .f4v, .f4a, .f4b, .f4p
- M4V — .m4v
- MKV — mkv, .mk3d
- MXF — .mxf
- MOV — .mov, .movie, .qt
- MP4 — .mp4
- MPG — .mpg, .mpeg
- SWF — .swf
- WebM — .webm
- WMV — .wmv
Please note: The container itself might add a slight overhead on top of the data included in the various streams it may contain. More info on this in the guide below:

Enabling this setting ensures files match your requirements in regards to container format.
