A codec (which stands for Compression-Decompression) processes video or audio and stores it in a stream of bytes. Codecs use algorithms to effectively shrink the size of the audio or video file (compress), and then decompress it when needed.
Audio codec settings in Advalidation
In Advalidation, you can select one or several of the below options:
- AAC — .aac, .m4a, .m4p, .m4b, .mp4, .3gp
- MP3 — .mp3
- Opus — .opus
- PCM — .wav, .wave, .pcm, .aif, .aiff, .aifc. bwf,
- Vorbis — .ogg, .oga, .sb0
- WMA — .wma
Please note: Although it is part of the Codec listing, PCM is an audio format and not a codec since it does not involve any compression.
Advalidation's recommendation
Enabling this setting ensures files match your requirements in regards to audio codec.
