What is VAST XML syntax?
VAST XML syntax is a standardised scripting language developed by the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB). It is used to serve video ads to viewers across multiple digital platforms. The syntax itself is a set of rules which consists of a series of tags and attributes that provide instructions on how the ad should be displayed.
This set of rules can be found on IAB’s GitHub page which can be accessed from the link below:

Using VAST XML Syntax in AdValidation:
AdValidation is a platform that provides quality assurance (QA) for digital ads. In the AdValidation QA setting, VAST XML syntax is used to ensure that video ads are displayed correctly and meet the necessary quality standards.
What is this setting: Ignore URL formatting errors ?
When working with a given VAST XML, you may encounter URLs that are actually macros serving as placeholders. These macros are typically replaced with the correct URLs at a later stage.
If you are testing your tags with Advalidation before replacing the macros, you might want to select the option to "Ignore URL formatting errors". This way, Advalidation will only flag other syntax issues, allowing you to focus on resolving them without worrying about the temporary placeholder URLs.
Happy validating!
